Lobsterdance Pro. Presents: THE TERRORMISU

THE TERRORMISU was created for the Vimeo Weekend Project's fake trailer contest. As the contest denotes, it is another fake trailer and a spiritual sequel to our last, OGGRA! VOODOO MONSTER FROM HELL. Similar to OGGRA, all the footage you see here was created using almost entirely practical special effects work, largely miniatures.

Camera: Panasonic DVX100b
Music: Akira Ifukube (from Frankenstein Conquers the World and Battle in Outer Space)

Behind the scenes clip, courtesy of crew member and co-star David "Tim" Johannaber.

Eventually, I intend to release a longer director's cut of this. It'll include a couple of shots missing from this cut, as well as a couple of new special effects shots I want to film soon and a more complete, polished sound mix.

A Trio of Etchings and a Monoprint

Here are some of the results of my adventures in printmaking last semester. First, a trio of etchings:

And then a monoprint based off of a lovely acquaintance of mine, Young. It's imperfect but a worthy experiment in the medium, I think:

A really lame joke.

Playing some art catchup! I'll start off with this, a really lame joke:

GRD3000 Project II - A fun little tidbit maybe.

Okay, so this will be a no brainer for you tokusatsu fans out there but for everyone else, here'ssomething fun. Remember the Ultraman ad I posted a couple days ago?

(This one.)

Okay, well, for starters, the delightfully derpy silhouette of Ultraman himself is pulled straight from the opening of the original TV show (from a version used a little later in the show's run). Thought it'd be a fun design element to incorporate since I can be kind of a whore for silhouettes. Anyway, note the star field that I added on the inside of that same silhouette. Now, Ultraman IS an alien "hero from the stars" and I really could have picked any interstellar medium image I pleased totally arbitrarily but I chose this particular image because it is this:

BEHOLD! THE NEBULA M-78!

"Big deal," you say, "it's a nebula. So what?" Well the Ultraman fans who might be reading this will tell you: M-78 is the in-universe location of the Land of Light, Ultraman's world of origin! Why on Earth TSUBURAYA picked that particular nebula is beyond me but for the sake of my ad, I thought it was a nice, subtle reference. 8D

New from Lobsterdance Pro.: BATTLE LEAVES IV

IF YOU THOUGHT BATTLE LEAVES III WAS INTENSE, YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT.

Playing Catch-up: GRD3000 Project III - Event Poster

Pretending one of my favorite bands liked me enough to use my artwork for one of their concert posters.
